4. Eligibility
(a) Eligible Students will be able to be funded for a maximum of one (1) School-based apprenticeship or traineeship and must meet the following criteria:
i. be enrolled in Year 10, 11, or 12 in a Queensland School, unless undertaking an electrotechnology school-based apprenticeship, in which case the student must be in Year 11 or 12;
ii. not be concurrently enrolled in any other Qualifications funded by the Department;
and
iii. have entered into a training contract (training contract) for a Qualification that is funded by the Department and be registered on the Department’s training database.
(b) Students can receive Funding for only one apprenticeship or traineeship at a time. If two training contracts are registered at the same time, the contract with the earliest start date will qualify for funding, provided all other eligibility requirements are met;
and
(c) Suppliers must ensure Students meet any Qualification eligibility exemptions and/or restrictions as specified within the Queensland Subsidised Training List (QSTL) (where applicable).
d) ACAH application requirements for course must be met.

2025-2028 Career Start and Boost Programs (General Training)

4.1 Career Start Eligibility for General Training Pathways
(a) Eligible Students must meet the following criteria:
i. be a permanent Queensland resident;
ii. be an Australian citizen, or Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), or temporary resident with the right visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen;
iii. not currently be enrolled in a Qualification;
iv. not have previously completed a certificate III or higher-level Qualification within the last 10 years for a general training pathway; and
v. not exceed a maximum of two government-funded apprenticeships/traineeships within a 10-year period.
(b) Suppliers must ensure Students meet any Qualification eligibility exemptions and/or restrictions as specified within the Queensland Subsidised Training List (QSTL) (where applicable).
4.2 Career Start Eligibility for Traineeship and Apprenticeship Pathways
(a) Eligible Students must meet the following criteria:
i. are currently employed as a Queensland apprentice or trainee (under a registered training contract) in an eligible apprenticeship or traineeship Qualification through this Program;
ii. not currently be enrolled in a Qualification;
iii. not be a school student; and
iv. not exceed a maximum of two government-funded apprenticeships/traineeships within a 10-year period.
(b) Students will be funded a maximum of two government funded apprenticeships/traineeships across the School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SATs), Career Start and Career Boost Programs. The two apprenticeships/traineeships
can be undertaken in this Career Start Program.
(c) Students can receive funding for only one apprenticeship or traineeship at a time. If two training contracts are registered at the same time, the contract with the earliest start date will qualify for funding, provided all other eligibility requirements are met.
d) ACAH application requirements for course must be met.
