Admission Information (Strictly for overseas students only)
Age: Applicants must be 16 years or older.
Education level requirements: ISLPR 1 or Cert. in Initial GEA or CSWE II.
Applicants will sit for a pre-course Language, Literacy & Numeracy Assessment Test and an interview to determine appropriate course placement.

At the completion of the program you will be given an attendance certification document, demonstrating the modules you have completed and the number of weeks of the program you have successfully completed.
Course Information:
ACAH201801 Reading comprehension skills for fictional and non-fictional writing
This module is designed for reading and writing outcomes and the skills and knowledge required by adult learners for further study purposes. The focus is on comprehension of every-day text used in magazines, newspapers and other written texts.
Study Duration: 5 weeks/3 days a week
Learning Outcomes: Learners can read and understand relevant information in everyday material such as brochures and short official documents. Can write texts on a range of familiar subjects and short simple essays on topics of interest and report to give an opinion. There will be two assessments on completion of the module
ACAH201802 Reading comprehension skills for complex written information text and interactions for further study
This module is designed for reading, writing and speaking outcomes, the skills and knowledge required by adult learners for further study purposes. The focus is on comprehension of every-day information text used in work and study situation.
Study Duration: 5 weeks/3 days a week
Learning Outcomes: Learners understand relevant information in everyday material such as letters, brochures and official documents and can gather information from different parts of a text to complete a task. Can explain problems with reasonable accuracy and can express thoughts on cultural topics.
There will be two assessments on completion of the module.
This module is designed for reading and writing outcomes, the skills and knowledge required by adult learners for further study purposes. The focus is on comprehension of complex texts used in a wide range of academic texts used in a printed or digital format.
Study Duration: 5 weeks/3 days a week
Learning Outcomes: Learners can read with a large degree of independence and have a broad active reading vocabulary. Can obtain information, ideas and opinions from specialised sources. Can express news and ideas on abstract and concrete topics and write clear, detailed texts.
There will be two assessments on completion of the module.
ACAH201807 Give complex presentations for further study
This module is designed for reading, research and speaking outcomes, the skills and knowledge required by adult learners for further study purposes. The focus is on research of complex and academic texts used in a printed or digital format. Write a presentation for speaking.
Study Duration: 5 weeks/3 days a week
Learning Outcomes: Learners can read different texts using appropriate reference sources and have an active reading vocabulary. Can quickly identify the content and relevance of articles and reports on contemporary problems expressing particular viewpoints. Can communicate spontaneously.
There will be two assessments on completion of the module.
ACAH201803 Listening and speaking skills for presenting information
This module is designed for listening and speaking outcomes, the skills and knowledge required by adult learners for further study purposes. It requires note-taking skills from aural/audio text for individual presentation and group interaction for further study.
Study Duration: 5 weeks/3 days a week
Learning Outcomes: Learners can understand the main points of clear standard speech in daily situations and can understand the main point of many radio and TV programs on current affairs or topics of personal interest. Can deliver a short presentation.
There will be two assessments on completion of the module.
ACAH201804 Listening and writing skills for research
This module is designed for listening and writing outcomes, the skills and knowledge required by adult learners for further study purposes. The focus is on listening and note-taking skills in a context of further study needs.
Study Duration: 5 weeks/3 days a week
Learning Outcomes: Learners can understand factual information and study related topics, identifying both general messages and specific details, Can understand the information content of recorded or broadcast audio material delivered in standard clear speech. Can exchange, check and confirm information and explain the reasons of a problem.

ACAH201805 Listening and writing skills for a discussion and presenting an opinion
This module is designed for listening, speaking and writing outcomes, the skills and knowledge required by adult learners for further study purposes. It requires listening, note-taking skills from aural/audio text and writing for individual discussion and group interaction for further study.

This module is designed for reading and writing outcomes, the skills and knowledge required by adult learners for further study purposes. The focus is on analysing a wide range of complex texts for further study purposes.

Learning Outcomes: Learners can read articles and reports dealing with contemporary issues in which a particular point of view is expressed. Can write clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and can write an essay and report presenting information or reasons in support of, or against a particular point of view. Can read different texts and for different purposes. Has a broad active reading vocabulary. Can give a presentation on complex issues.

ACAH201809 Listening and taking notes from aural texts for further study
This module is designed for reading and writing outcomes, the skills and knowledge required by adult learners for further study purposes. The focus on taking notes from complex and extended aural texts for further study purposes.
Study Duration: 5 weeks/3 days a week
Learning Outcomes: Learners can understand extended speech and lectures and can follow complex lines of argument provided the topic is reasonably familiar. Can understand most TV news and current affairs programs and interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity. Can understand the main ideas of linguistically complex speech on both concrete and abstract topics delivered in standard speech and Can follow the essentials of lectures, talks and academic presentations. Can understand most broadcast material. Can understand a clearly structured lecture.

ACAH201810 Communicative language competence and numeracy for further study
This module is designed for speaking and numeracy performance outcomes, the skills and knowledge required by adult learners for further study purposes. The focus of this module is on focusing discussing issues and the use of numeracy for further study purposes.
Study Duration: 5 weeks/3 days a week
Learning Outcomes: Learners have a sufficient range of language to be able to give clear descriptions, express viewpoint and develop argument without much searching for words. Understands routine formulae and algebraic representations, and graphical representations.
